Municipal Archives' September 11, 2001 recovery footage video for 2001 to 2002
Description
This accession consists of two VHS tapes and two "C" camcorder tapes containing 100 minutes of footage. The video was shot by public records officer Stephen Barto and depicts events after the September 11, 2001 attack, activities undertaken by the Municipal Archives staff to document the attack, the recovery efforts, and memorials. Footage of Ground Zero and the surrounding area is principally from September 18-20 in downtown Manhattan (55 minutes). Footage of the archives staff includes recovery of artifacts and documentation of the Community Affairs Unit Center at Pier 94 was recorded July 10, 2002, (20 minutes); the Ground Zero memorial and 31 Chambers Street on September 11-12, 2002 (18 minutes); and the Fresh Kills recovery site on July 2, 2002 (7 min). The tapes are described using dates, locations, and subjects. The material is related to the World Trade Center memorial materials, artifacts, and photographs in accessions 2002-062, 2002-068, 2002-053, 2002-053B, 2003-081, 2003-101, and 2003-115. The material is not arranged in any particular manner.
