Department of Finance payment vouchers for 1829, 1843, and 1859
Description
This accession consists of three sets of vouchers. One set concerns payment to election inspectors for their duties in an election in 1843. They indicate the name of the inspector, the district they served in, and the amount they were paid. The second set is for services rendered by various contractors and workmen (with funds appropriated by the Common Council) and authorization of interest payments on bonds, dating from 1829. One of the vouchers concerns construction of the jail on Blackwell's Island. The third set is for notices of payment of interest on City stock, and other matters, published by the Comptroller in 1859. The notices were in the "Irish American." Most of the documents are damaged and in need of conservation. The material is arranged chronologically.
