New York City transit survey reports circa 1924 to 1927
Description
This accession consists of reports, draft reports, notes, and printed material related to the 95-page report titled "New York City Transit, 1927." Consulting engineer Charles Smith was engaged by the Comptroller to write a survey report of the state of the subway system in 1927 and how its future development might progress. The material in the accession was used to prepare the report. Included are existing reports sent to Smith by city agencies on the subject and research conducted by him and his assistants. There are also preliminary reports, drafts of the final report, and the printed final report. Smith submitted this material to the Municipal Reference Library in 1954, which was accessioned also as accession 1953-010. The materials is arranged alphabetically.
