Description

This accession consists of assessments, inspection reports and related documents. The assessments are for collection of taxes for the maintenance of Manhattan streets and the inspections are for work done on those streets. There are three receipts from the City Treasurer to assessors for deposits of tax collections from 1811; one assessment list for the opening of Columbia Street from 1812; two inspections reports, one of which includes a cost accounting, for Bank Street and 4th Street from 1830; four property assessments from 1830-1845 and one contract estimate for work on 30th-50th streets by the Hudson, for the purposes of an assessment. The documents are in varying condition, some are torn. The material is arranged chronologically.
