Description

This accession consists of financial records, including receipts. The records list soldiers who received a bounty for replacing a draftee and the amount. Included are receipts from the soldiers for the bounties. The Committee's responsibilities included raising an army comprised of volunteers and substitutes for those who did not want to be drafted and for disbursing bounty payments to these soldiers. This accession was first inventoried in 1977, along with other Civil War-related material that comprise accessions 2010-071 through 2010-079. The material is arranged chronologically.
