Description
This accession consists of one bound volume containing the applications of blind persons seeking financial aid from the Comptroller's Office. They are in the form of short reports created by the Supervisor of the Out-Door Poor, under the Department of Public Charities and Correction. The reports typically include the name, age and address of the applicant, place of birth, years in New York County, marital status, occupation, family members who live with the applicant and their occupations, whether the applicant is temperate, personal references, financial status and history of hospitalization/institutionalization, and any aid received before the application. The volume is arranged alphabetically by the surname of the applicant.
