Robert Burns celebration photographs circa 1939
Description
This accession consists of three 8 x 10 inch black and white photographic prints. They portray a celebration of Scottish poet Robert Burns (probably his birthday) in Central Park. There are two images from a parade , one of a pipe band and one of men in military uniforms headed by the celebration's Grand Marshal, Colonel Walter Scott. The third is of women in Scottish costume. An inscription on one of the photographs, "Scotch", and its apparent date, is suggestive of the photographs being taken by the Works Progress Administration Federal Writers Project. The Federal Writers Project collection and the present photos are part of the Municipal Archives collections. The photographs are not arranged in any particular way.
