New York Police Department duty roster logbook for 1851 to 1853


Description

This accession consists of a logbook. It is a daily statistical duty roster of the police force. Each entry is headed with the preprinted caption "To his honor the Mayor on (day of the week) morning (day/month/year) showing the presence and absence of the Police Force." The log indicates by police district how many officers of each rank were on duty, how many sick, with leave, without leave, suspended, special duty, and vacancies. It also indicates the totals of each rank and duty category for the entire force. The information within the logbook is arranged chronologically.
