The accession consists of one book, "The Gangs of New York: An Informal History of the Underworld" by Herbert Asbury that was first published in 1927. It is in fair condition. As indicated in the appraisal and accession records, the book was donated or gifted to the Mayor's Office (Giuliani Administration) in 1994 via Jean Ross, who was serving as director of administrative operations within the larger office of Mayor's Office of Fiscal and Administrative Management, Citywide Services, and Correspondence Services. The appraisal number for this accession is AP2010-096. Despite recommendation, the book was never transferred to the City Hall Library.
