Professional writings on pathology, toxicology, and forensic medicine circa 1930 to 1980

Description

This accession consists of professional writings on pathology, toxicology, and forensic medicine. The authors include Chief Medical Examiner (CME) Norris and his successors, other staff members of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME), and professional colleagues from other institutions. Much of the material consists of offprints of articles from scientific and professional journals; however some files contain typescript versions of articles and professional presentations, some of which may be unpublished. Included are two alphabetical sequences of files; one consists of writings by CME Helpern, arranged alphabetically by title; the second sequence consists of the writings by all other authors, arranged alphabetically by author. The materials were received in May 2011 from the Public Health Library of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The librarian reported that they were formerly in the custody of the Milton Helpern Library, within the New York University Medical School. However, the material appears to be properly the records of the OCME.
