Description

This accession consists of eight window-matted original illustrations from Harper's Weekly: A Journal of Civilization, which was an American political magazine based in New York. Published by Harper and Brothers from 1857 until 1916, it featured foreign and domestic news, fiction, essays on many subjects, and humor, alongside illustrations. The material was donated by Rose M. Simpson and is in good condition. Each item measures 14 x 18 inches. The illustrations are titled as follows: Suspension Bridge in the Highlands, Skeletons of Moas, Crow’s Nest, the Falls of Niagara, Statue of Liberty, Chatham Street, Track of the New York Jockey Club, and the Municipal Back Yard. The illustrations are arranged chronologically.
