New York City district prison and court system records for 1903 to 1914
Description
This accession consist of the records of the former New York City district prison and court system that was supervised by the New York City Department of Correction. It served a role similar to Police Court and generally dealt with minor offenses. This accession consists of five statement of provisions received; two discharge requests; one receipt for cash fine or bail imposed; and one receipt for body of a deceased prisoner. This accession is a random sample collected by Municipal Archives staff Steve Barto from Harlem Court House located at 170 East 121st Street in Manhattan. It was "found in collection." These files are not arranged in any particular way.
