Accession ACC-2014-034. Unprocessed - RG 035. Department of Finance

Description

Property cards (8.5 x 14 inches) for each building in Manhattan, arranged by block and lot. Each card includes a site diagram and a small "tax photo" (2.5 x 3.5 inches). The data on each card includes a record of assessments, beginning in 1931 and continued each year to 1975 (although it is apparent that the entries for 1931 to 1939 were entered in circa 1939. Other entries list conveyances, mortgages, facts on original construction, and other data on the land and building. The photographs will fill gaps in the existing series of tax photos held by the Archives; the tax assessment record will remain of importance for many property owners.
