Description

The accession consists of reports, pamphlets, programs, clippings, printed ephemera, memorabilia, and other records documenting the activities of Martha Baker and the New York City Commission on the Status of Women, circa 1992-1998. Baker served in the Dinkins administration as the Executive Director of the Commission, from May 1990-February 1993. The records relating to the Commission include but are not limited to: resource guides and reports on violence against women, sexual harassment on campuses and in the city's workforce, legislative affairs, and women's organizations; printed ephemera from events sponsored by the Commission; and a t-shirt. There is some undated material in the collection. Some of the materials in the appraisal document Baker's career and activities outside the Commission for the Status of Women. These include but are not limited to materials from 1994 and 1995 conferences on and in China.
