Description

These records cover the administrations of Joseph B. Rose, Richard L. Schaffer, Amanda Burden, Herbert J. Sturz, and Sylvia Deutsch, who were variously Commissioners, Directors, and/or Chairpersons of both the Department and the Commission of City Planning. Included in the accession are subject files arranged alphabetically, signature files arranged chronologically, and possibly project files. The subject files contain correspondence, reports, plans, environmental impact statements, drafts, notes, minutes, and other types of records. Subject files reflect the priorities of the leadership of the agency at any given time. Chronological signature files are official documentation of policies and decisions made by leadership of the agency at any given time and frequently take the form of memoranda. Document types in this series include, "memoranda of acceptance" and, "negative declarations".
