Scope and Contents

Fiorello La Guardia left office in 1945 and began to pursue a private career. During his final two years of life, 1946 and 1947, he served in many capacities. Most prominent of these was his role as Director of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA). He also continued his ever-popular series of radio talks until the time of his death in 1947. This series represents correspondence directly related to his life after his retirement in December 1945. The series is organized alphabetically and contains general correspondence. Frequently folders will contain letters regarding specific radio broadcasts or reactions to his job as UNRRA Director. There is no specific subject or character to this collection of correspondence.
