Community Assistance Center printed materials for 2001 to 2002

Description

The accession consists of badges, pamphlets, flyers, booklets, and handbooks. Most of the material was created and/or utilized by the Community Assistance Unit (CAU) in the course of providing aid, comfort, and information at the Family Assistance Centers at Pier 94 and 49-51 Chambers Street established after the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center (WTC). This extended from the Giuliani Administration to the Bloomberg Administration. Badges were issued to CAU staff and victims' families for various purposes. Other printed materials were used in counseling the families. One booklet was printed reflecting CAU and other agencies and institutions efforts to help the families. Some of the material is similar to that in Accession 2003-089, WTC Assistance Center brochures, and utilized in the same locations. A small quantity of material was added in 2005, representing the Bloomberg administration, transferred from the CAU or similar in nature sent to the Municipal Archives from city agencies or other groups. Material came from the Chief Medical Examiner's Office, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), and the National Law Enforcement Officers Endowment.
