Scope and Contents

Records of the chairman of the commission. The Commission on School Facilities and Maintenance Reform was an independent commission appointed by Chancellor Ramon Cortines and chaired by Harold O. Levy. Its function was to review the work of the Board of Education’s bureaus responsible for school facilities and to make general recommendations for reform. The commission’s report recommended a massive increase in maintenance effort and funding. Included are correspondence, memoranda, minutes, and interim and final reports.
