Scope and Contents

Series 1.4 consists of the subject files of Herbert Block, an Assistant to the Mayor who served in the Offices of Constituency Affairs, which acted as the mayor's liaisons to various marginalized communities, particularly when it came to the issue of intergroup relations. In his capacity, Block was the mayor's chief liaison to the Jewish community. Subjects include the Anti-Defamation League, Children's Week 1990, Crown Heights, elections, the Holocaust Museum, Israel’s 40th Anniversary, Jewish Heritage Week, and the Salute to Israel Parade. The files contain correspondence, memoranda, reports, and printed materials such as brochures, newsletters, and clippings.
