Operation Welcome Home, 1991

Scope and Contents

On June 10, 1991, New York City hosted a parade in honor of troops returning from the Persian Gulf War. This series contains records documenting the planning and preparation for this historic occasion as well as memorabilia associated with the events of the day. The material includes magazine advertisements asking for contributions towards the parade, the guest list and number of tickets issued to each guest for four events (e.g., Ecumenical Service, and Pre-Parade Breakfast, Parade, and the Fireworks Display), posters, press kits, videotapes, and welcome home buttons. Also included are photocopies of letters of appreciation to Mayor Dinkins from General Schwarzkopf and other parade participants for the Welcome Home Parade.
