Abstract: The collection consists of more than 2,000 maps of the waterfronts of all five New York City boroughs. The maps show the location of shorelines, docks and piers, obstructions such as abandoned ships, and structures on or close to the waterfront ranging from boat clubs to heavy industry. The oldest dates on the maps are from the mid-1890s; the most recent notations are from the late-1960s.
